The Setting...

We had to choose the perfect location for our first in-person retreat in five years!

El Rancho Robles is an authentic (former) ranch nestled in the foothills of the Catalina Mountains (outside of Tucson, Arizona). You'll experience the quiet serenity of the beautiful Sonoran desert during this all-inclusive retreat.

  • 4-days, 3-nights beginning late afternoon on Thursday, March 9th to Sunday afternoon, March 12th, 2025.
  • Am I Hungry? Mindful Eating Workshops lead by Michelle May, M.D.
  • Daily Mindful Movement (including all-levels yoga) with Am I Hungry? Facilitator Dawn Hopkins, ERYT-500, and co-developer of the Am I Hungry Mindful Eating & Yoga Training Program.
  • All your delicious, nutritious chef-prepared meals with guided mindful eating lunches.

Here’s how it all started…

These days, I eat what I love and love what I eat. But it wasn't always this way...

I was a Family Physician who secretly struggled with disordered eating. I yo-yo dieted from middle school through medical school and wondered if I would ever find a way to manage my eating.

I was surprised to realize how many of my patients had similar struggles. Like me, they were successful in many areas of their lives but felt stuck where eating was concerned.

I also noticed my husband and two young children didn’t struggle with food at all. They naturally ate when they were hungry, ate whatever they wanted, and stopped when they were full. And of course, they never dieted.

That was my turning point - literally!

I was on my way back to Weight Watchers after a particularly discouraging weekend of overeating, when I turned my car around and said out loud, “I’m done with dieting!”

It sounds simple, but it wasn’t easy. I had to unlearn decades of restrictive diet messages and relearn to listen to (and trust!) my instinctive wisdom about feeding myself.

It changed my life!

I felt inspired to share what I had discovered to free others from the prison of the eat-repent-repeat cycle.
