What’s happening during Diabetes Awareness Month

Mindful Eating Programs and Training to share important resources and information with you regarding this important topic affecting millions of people in our country alone. Here’s what’s happening during Diabetes Awareness Month, including links, freebies, and special savings to help….

Diabetes Awareness Resources

This year, the American Diabetes Association has named their campaign “This Is Diabetes.” Follow along to see stories of real-life people managing type 2 diabetes – or submit your own! Visit their page for detailed information and use the hashtag #ThisIsDiabetes when sharing your story on social media.

The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) has themed their campaign “Managing Diabetes- It’s Not Easy, But It’s Worth It.” Their hope is to to emphasize the importance of prevention of diabetes related heath issues through diabetes management.

World Diabetes Day takes place on November 14th, 2016 through the International Diabetes Federation. Their theme for this year’s campaign, “Eyes on Diabetes,” encourages screening to ensure early diagnosis of type 2 diabetes and treatment to reduce the risk of serious complications.

Here’s what we’re doing:

We want to do our part to help spread awareness, encourage those with diabetes to learn how to self-manage their diabetes, and train health professionals to educate their patients about diabetes self-management using mindful eating practices.
