Weight Watchers was my first diet at 12 years old and Weight Watchers was my last diet at 37. There were 25 years of yo-yo dieting and disordered eating in between. #wakeupweightwatchers
Now WW (formerly Weight Watchers) is at it again! They have created an app for kids 8 to 17 and they are giving it away free to hook the next generation of dieters. #wakeupweightwatchers
As a physician, I liken that to giving kids cigarettes… Get them hooked on dieting early, and they will be your return customers for many years to come. This is a disgusting business model! #wakeupweightwatchers
Kids don’t need adults and big business reinforcing the message that their bodies are flawed and that a diet (no matter how you try to disguise it) will fix them. Love them instead! #wakeupweightwatchers
Kids don’t need to think of almonds and milk as “yellow light foods”! #wakeupweightwatchers
Kids don’t need to log in a piece of birthday cake and be made to feel guilty for having ice cream with their friends. #wakeupweightwatchers
Kids don’t need to kurb their cravings! They need to develop a healthy relationship with food that includes all foods without putting some on a pedestal and some on the bad list. #wakeupweightwatchers
Kids don’t need to be body shamed by their parents, health care professionals, or a multinational company. #wakeupweightwatchers
Please don’t say, “But this is about health.” It’s not and you’re not fooling anyone. The link between dieting and eating disorders is clear; this is about diet culture and body shaming. #wakeupweightwatchers
If this upsets you too, hop on twitter and use the hashtag #wakeupweightwatchers to be heard!

There is also a petition on Change.org against Kurbo. I wonder what else we can do?
Spread the word – share on social media, talk to your friends… Thanks Elizabeth!
