Treatment of BED

By Michelle May, M.D.

new-insights-into-treatment-for-bed-recordingThe diagnosis and treatment of BED has gotten more attention since Binge Eating Disorder was added to the DSM 5 in 2013. Due to the growing awareness in BED and interest in effective treatment for BED we offered a complimentary educational webinar for health professionals, New Insights into Treatment for Binge Eating Disorder.

Our objectives for this webinar are to:

  • Identify and address common challenges that your clients face with overeating, binge eating, and weight struggles.
  • Examine why focusing on weight loss doesn’t work and learn how to motivate clients to become more intrinsically driven.
  • Explore how neuroscience influences eating behavior and why a focus on brain health can reduce shame and increase hope in our clients.
  • Address challenges in finding effective treatment that promotes sustainable changes.

Click here to access the recording, a handout of the slides, and other BED resources discussed during the session, including links to the Binge Eating Scale used in our Mindful Eating for Binge Eating research and the article Mindful Eating and Weight Loss: Setting the Record Straight.

Please also share this webinar with your colleagues who are interested in learning more about the treatment of BED!
