Donuts in the break room can be quite a challenge. As soon as I walk in the kitchen and see the pink boxes of donuts, they’re in the back of my mind. Even if I have healthy snacks on hand, I know the donuts offer a quick, easy break from stressful (or boring) meetings, looming deadlines, long conference calls, or whatever else I might want to avoid.
The research says diets don't work and few people experience long term success with dieting. So why are we still having the same old conversation about food and weight? The answer? Paradigm blindness.
FREEDOM. What an incredible feeling! In my last post, I shared a personal story about the discovery of mindful eating and the freedom and health it has brought to my own life. Through our work with mindful eating in the corporate wellness arena today, we have a tremendous opportunity to help others from a wide spectrum of organizations experience the many freedoms mindful eating can bring. I’ll explore each of these “freedoms” as they occur in workplace programs over time in this blog. Today, we’ll start with the first: Freedom from diets and yo-yo dieting.
