Powerful Conversations to Lead the Shift from Weight to Well-being

By Michelle May, M.D.

Powerful Conversations to lead the shift from weight to well-beingThe evidence is clear: the weight-focused approach to health doesn’t create sustainable changes in weight or health—and may have counterproductive and even harmful consequences. A growing body of evidence supports three key tenets of a promising alternative: a non-restrictive approach to eating and self-care, a weight-neutral perspective on health, and the use of mindfulness-based strategies.

But data alone isn’t enough to shift the health promotion paradigm from weight to well-being. Health and wellness professionals need to be skilled at effectively communicating these new paradigm messages to clients, patients, colleagues, and organizational leaders. This involves artfully integrating the evidence with powerful questions and active listening.

To support the efforts of health professionals in leading this paradigm shift, we’ve made a variety of complimentary white papers and webinars available.  Click on either of the links below to explore.
